    I joined MAASIN because I want to help marching arts organizations grow strong, inclusive cultures that result in members, staff, and volunteers alike feeling they truly belong. My experience as a market research and PhD in musicology (music anthropology) mean most of my work is with the Research Committee, developing and conducting activity-wide studies.

    Performers of all backgrounds deserve safe and positive environments to learn, practice, teach, and share their art. As a member of MAASIN, I’m most interested in learning about the vast array of different (and similar) experiences across the marching arts world and applying what we learn from the community when creating educational resources.

    I am a member of MAASIN because there is a need to increase access and inclusivity in all facets of the marching arts (not just drum corps), along with improving upon the current member experience across the activity. My work in MAASIN consists of collecting data from the community to aid in creating sustainable goals for the organization.

    I joined MAASIN due to a strong desire to provide support to members and a vision of a safer and more equitable marching arts activity. As a member of the whistleblower support team, it is my goal to provide assistance to those that come forward about harms caused within the activity. I also strive to provide support to people of the LGBTQIA+ community that are involved in the marching arts.

    I am a physical therapist and certified athletic trainer. I work with MAASIN to develop health-focused educational content for performers, educators, and the general public. The physical and mental demands on performers in the marching arts have never been higher. I hope to do my part to ensure they have the tools to perform at their best in a healthy and sustainable way.

    Josh Clements joined MAASIN to help enact positive change within the marching arts community. He has been involved in the marching arts for over 8 years, all spent as a part of media teams for organizations across all levels of the activity.     Justin Dozier is a senior in the percussion studio in music education department at Georgia state university looking to teach high school or pursue his masters degree after he graduates in 2024. Justin is a huge believer in equality in the marching arts and a member centric approach to the activity while also making better humans in life after the activity.

    Through MAASIN, Kaitlyn strives to make a positive impact in students' lives and develop the next generation of our community by challenging harmful educational strategies and thought patterns in the marching arts. She specializes in developing educational resources, supporting past and current performers/staff through conflict and trauma, and applying behavioral and social science frameworks to marching arts research.

    Karen joined MAASIN driven by a passion for positive change within the marching arts community. MAASIN's mission to advocate for safety, accessibility, inclusivity, and equity resonated with her deeply. With a background in merchandising, social media, graphic design, and education, Karen actively contributes to MAASIN's mission. With 15+ years of experience in the marching arts, she is dedicated to ending the tolerance of abusive behaviors in the community, ensuring everyone of all experience and skill levels are treated with respect and dignity.

    Kubs Sabrsula-Mendoza is a graphic designer, illustrator and photographer based out of East Texas. Originally a color guard member at the drum corps level, they played cymbals in their university marching band and are now a proud band director spouse.

    I started MAASIN because I believe in the strength of the marching arts community to care for each other as performers, staff, and people. I stay in MAASIN because all the other people on this page and who have supported us in our journey proved me right. Outside of MAASIN I am a social worker who has worked as a queer community center coordinator, accessibility programming coordinator, and sexual assault counsellor. This is reflected in my MAASIN organizing work as the PROSPER Program Coordinator and member of the LGBTQIA+ and disability working groups.
