Three (3) Evolutions Later…

Wow, we're finally here. What began as a one person effort has grown into a near thirty person team dedicated to our community's well-being. What was MAAIN is now MAASIN: Marching Arts Access, Safety, & Inclusion Network. We are a community-led effort to increase equity and safety in DCI, WGI, DCA, and any ensemble within the purview of the marching arts. MAASIN is entirely volunteer-run by concerned and dedicated marching arts community members from a variety of performance and staff backgrounds. We have moved from being Twitter-exclusive to adding Instagram, Facebook, and a website. This website is a great central hub where you can find all our projects from ones you know, like whistleblowing support, to new and exciting avenues for action.

Our mission is to coordinate a collective voice to address safety, accessibility, inclusivity, and equity in the marching arts. We advocate for the needs of our diverse performer population, especially the needs of historically excluded and underrepresented groups. MAASIN advocates for safe, reasonable, and comfortable working conditions for staff including increased protection from wrongful termination, sexual harassment, and discrimination. We strongly oppose all forms of inequity, discrimination, and harassment. Our vision is accessible, inclusive, and equitable marching arts for all and a culture of safety where scores, costs, or positions of power are never prized above health or well-being.

We are bringing lots of ways to connect, share, and support each other to the table. Ensembles can become a MAASIN partner so we can work together to bring our vision to life and foster positive environments to learn or work in. We also offer several ways for individuals to get involved whether you only have a little spare time here and there or weekly availability. If you support our cause and don't have any time it's always appreciated if you follow, like, and share from our social media. If you want to go the extra mile in supporting us you can donate to our overhead costs, like hosting this website, here. Donations are appreciated but not at all mandatory to call yourself a supporter.

Please feel free to explore our website and contact us if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. We can be reached at @maasinetwork on Twitter and Instagram as well as facebook.com/maasinetwork. Our new email is info@maasin.net for general inquiries and report@maasin.net for whistleblowing support. We're glad you're here and can't wait to work with you.

Sincerely,

Marching Arts Access, Safety, & Inclusion Network (MAASIN)
